quote: agree with all the people to say not worry about speed, but accuracy, however, I have a son that is a senior this year (2008) and has been to many showcases and several college camps and not one of them was concerned with his accuracy. It was all about the radar and speed. The ones that bumped around 90 got all the attention. Also they are the ones that get the phone calls from the coaches too. It's confusing. I realize you can't walk all the batters you face, but...really what does the coaches and recruiters want?
Good point. I think to some degree scouts look at pitchers who through harder with more regard even if they are wild because they know that with a good pitching program control can achieved. However speed is much harder to achieve, to some degree a gift or natural ability. That's why 90mph and plus is such a determining factor and no matter how hard some boys train and practice they will never be able to reach 90mph.
