Are you already working out? I would suggest following a workout plan and taking some sort of protein. Im on a plan where i lift four times a week, speed workouts twice a week, cardio twice, then core and ab workouts twice a week. Usually sunday is my only day off of workouts even having games and stuff during the week and all. I use muscle milk light but most protein shakes or drinks are good sources of protein that could help you gain good weight.

I've been working out legs and biceps monday wednesdays, and chest and triceps tuesday thursday with abs following up both workouts. I have had serious trouble finding protein that I can take enough to actually get results. Any suggestions, I've tried Advocare (chocolate) and Whey (chocolate and vanilla) Vanilla is terrible, chocolate is bareable... But couldn't find results.

Thanks in advance.

Please post a smaple of your daily diet.

How long did you use the protein for?

When do you train you back muscles?

I would suggest you read back posts and free articles on my website which will point you in the direction of workout structure.

Advocare is inferior protein - I'd stay away.

I usually start out with a little cereal before I go work out, just to have a little energy... After I work out, I drink my protein shake, and then have either 2 peanut butter sandwiches or tuna fish sandwiches for lunch. Dinner usually consists of some variation of Chicken.

I used the protein for maybe a little over a month. What protein would you suggest? It will need to be somewhat cheap, being that I'm going to be a college student within the next month.

As I am only a paretn and not a trainer as Jon is. I have not been able to find an inexpensive protein powder. The good protein is a little expensive. Maybe Jon will have better input.

Also I would really like to see a sample of your daily food intake.Sometimes you think you are eating enough but come to find out your not, there are lots of dense foods that are healthy and have good fats and calories ex. all kinds of nuts, a handful of peanuts out of a can are about 200 calories. there are ways to up your caloric intake without feeling like your eating big meals all day long. I suugest you keep a journal of what you eat for about a week and then see what kind of things you need to add to gain appropriate weoght. All I know is when doing it naturally with good diet, good workout and good source of protein it takes time and patience but you will see healthy weight gain with muscle if you stick with it.

Hit the weights and eat real food vs. protien powders. Good example is the Hard Gainer's Chapter of The Power Food Nutition Plan by Susan Kleiner.

I can see why you are not gaining weight. You can't be getting teh calories that you need (and teh right calories).

I am assuming you are going off to school and have access to cafeteria? Use it to your advantage.

You should be consuming 4-6 meals a day depending on needs and your diet to consist of:
whole grains, beans, nuts (plain peanuts, cashews or almonds) vegetables, pasta, rice, potatoe, protein and fruit (bananas and apples preferred), non fat or 1-2% fat dairy products. Consuming too much fruit is too much sugar. Bananas and apples are good snacks. Go light on the carrots as well for snacks, too much sugar.
Protein includes grilled or baked chicken breast(no skin) turkey (in burger form better than hamburgers), peanut butter, tuna, fish, lean red meat, egg whites. Never fried foods.
Very important, you lose muscle mass when you sleep, good to have peanut butter (on whole wheat), or protein shake (which is easy)or bar before you turn the lights out. Best protein bars are cliff bars, oatmeal raisin or peanut butter. Watch the contents in them, they are NOT all good for you. You can buy them by the box in walmart, or if you prefer another brand but stay away from the everyday grocery store brands.
Homemade or canned soup (eg progresso's lighter chicken noodle or vegetable with beans) good source of protein when you need a mid day pick up.
Protein shakes should be used as snack and not to replace a main meal, there is no replacement for the real thing.
My son prefers to space out 5-6 lighter meals per day, everyday, all year round. The amount of his main meals varies from season to off season time. Take vitamins. Consume only water or flavored water, no soda. fresh OJ can be one of your fruits.

fanofgame is correct, you can do it if you seriously pay attention to it and make sure that you choose healthy foods and snacks. You must consume the right amount of calories and eat the right foods to add the weight.

Hope that this helps.
