Anyone else incorporating this into their routine? My son has been doing "hot box" yoga for about a month, he says it's the hardest workout he's ever done. I'm sure it will help w/ flexibility but I worry he's burning too many calories and wonder about the heat.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

They had yoga on Saturdays at Santa Clara in the fall. Also the summer pitching coach made a yoga video for use by the Mariners. My son, who is needing flexibility, found yoga really hard, but helpful.

The girl friend of another ex-major leaguer who coaches in the Northwest was a ballerina in New York City. She thinks that baseball players don't spend enough effort in improving flexibility as they should, hence theyare subject to injuries. She teaches yoga and pilates to baseball players and other athletes.

I've tried Yoga and Pilates and it's so hard!! I'm 6'8 and my body just wont do some of those things they ask you to do! Smile It's probably the hardest workouts I've had to do. I like Pilates more then Yoga and think it probably helped me more.

MrandMrsBaseball ,
I am a true fan of Yoga and Pilates . You
can't go wrong either way . They will both help
you increase your flexibility , while I think
that Pilates also does a great job in working
your core . I'm sorry , but I am not familiar
with "Hot Box" Yoga , maybe someone else has
had experience with this ,
Good Luck ,
Kerry

If I understand correctly, it's an intense Yoga session in a VERY warm room. (not quite sauna hot, but close). I don't really know the reason for the heat.......increased flexibility? Sweating out "toxins"? No idea. Glad to hear others are doing Yoga in some form. I too think it could help prevent injury.

MrandMrsBaseball ,
Thanks for the clarification on the "Hot
Box" Yoga . I am very much in favor of a good
warm-up before any flexibility or stretching
session , but I am not a big fan of this
procedure . But as I've said before , this is
just my opinion , I would love to hear from
anyone that has done this type of training .
Thanks ,
Kerry
