Had our first day of games today in the Vanderbilt Invitation, hosted by East Cobb Yankees. Lost a nail biter in game #1 to Mountaineer Park (WV) Hitters 17-3, then lost game #2 to East Cobb by the score of 2-1. Our pitcher in game #1 is a cutty-thumbing lefty who is usually down in the zone. Well today, he had 2 pitches, singles and doubles. He left in the 4th losing 6-1. We put a mopup kid in next, and he had about the same level of success. Game #2 featured one of our better guys on the hill (82-85 LHP) and he gave up 2 hits, both HRs. We scored in the top of the 1st, and that was it. No matter, we are looking forward to the rest of the tournament. Great teams, great fields, and lots of good music. BTW, if your team has a chance of seeing the Mountaineer Park team in post-season, you might be impressed with the way they swing the lumber, whoa!

Who won?
Larry, can you please tell me about those Mountaineers Hitmen, they are ranked #1 in the country, in the Palomino division, but they can really beat anybody. Last three years record is
130-23(win.pct..838) and 28 players drafted.
With 15 kids roster. WOW!

Softhands...soon as my coaching staff gets back from a detour home, I will let you know the final results. I do all the admin. stuff now, since retiring from coaching following the death of my dad. Here is what I know though.

According to my coaches, the team was very impressive. Really swung the lumber. We ended up beating them the next day 5-3, but it took a great pitching effort by one of our kids. The roster is apparently loaded with kids from the top baseball producing states in the country. The coaching staff was very good as well, according to our staff.

Can you tell me what affiliation the PALOMINO division is associated with? I am looking for something like AABC, NABF, AAU, Babe Ruth, etc... THANKS!
