I will have two teams this summer. One will be composed of freshmen from my son's Abilene High freshman team, and the other will be made up of sophs and juniors from the varsity and jv teams. We will be in the West Texas Baseball League, playing teams from Abilene and to the west. However, since Abilene High was re-districted by the UIL into a new district east of Abilene (Weatherford and some Fort Worth schools), we thought we migh schedule some games to the east and south of Abilene (Brownwood, Stephenville, Weatherford, Fort Worth), if possible. We might be interested in a tourney or two in Round Rock or Austin. A newbie's question here: About how much should a team expect to pay to enter a tournament? Last year we played mostly Saturday and Sunday doubleheaders close to home. We are not too experienced with tournament play, but would like to venture out into the world of summer tournament baseball. Thanks!

A group of central Texas high school summer ball coordinators are meeting tonight to discuss the upcoming summer "season". Over 40 high schools will be represented. Teams will range from incoming-freshman to JV and Varsity. You might visit www.warriorsummerbaseball.org and click on the tournaments link. The list of tournaments should grow in the coming weeks as high school summer organizations schedule their tournaments.
