I guess a lot of the boys are finding out where they'll be spending the summer. Mine is coming back to NY along with one of his teammates...

So where is your son going?

My freshman son is heading to Chillicothe, MO. next summer. The team is in the MINK league. Anybody know anything about this one?

Headed back to Minnesota and the Northwoods ... he had a blast up there last summer, even though the Mosquito is the state bird.

Coach at Coastal Carolina asked son if he wanted to play in the Alaska League next summer. He says it's one of the best. Anyone know anything about it?

I'm curious about the Jayhawk League. My son has been placed with the Nevada Griffons.

Any info regarding this league, this team, host family experiences, travel (lots of bus time, I hear), surprise expenses, life in Nevada, etc., would be appreciated.

Anyone out there have knowledge of the Jayhawk League?

Under the find tab (select Advanced Find then type in name of league), was able to find previous hsbbweb discussions for the following leagues:

Jayhawk League

Alaska League

MINK League

Also, HiHardHeat posted this recent article from Baseball America:

Hope that helps Smile

Very few freshmann play on the cape their first year.

Where ever your son plays, he will have a blast, meet new friends and play everyday.

Below is a link to the ncaa baseball site, find summer leagues. Jayhawk has no website.

How do you go about getting your son on a summer collegiate team?

Most of the colleges get their players into the summer leagues. If your college does not send their players to summer teams, you can contact the teams on your own. I would think that the stronger leagues would be difficult to get into without a strong school support.

Here is a really good link to the various leagues* and more important most of the teams:
http://www.geocities.com/colsportsites/summer.html

* There are some leagues that are supported by the NCAA and there are several others which are not recognized by NCAA, but provide various levels of competition over the summer.

KCBaseball:

Though the Jayhawk league doesn't have a central league website, here is a link page to the individual teams in the league.

Hope it helps.
Jayhawk League Teams

The Jayhawk League (along with the Alaskan League and a few others) play under the National Baseball Congress (Hap Dumont).

Here is a link to the master site. There are some summer league under NBC that you don't often hear about from other places.

Thanks for the links. Looking forward to summer ball and we haven't even had our first season of college ball! Son did hear that the Griffons have a team bus... no long drives to get himself to out-of-town games. Also, its close enough to home that we might see him a few times! Just thankful he's playing ball and happy.
