Mike,

See you at the ballpark and best of luck to Joe. Much deserved congrats and I'm sure that the coaches up there will be soon thanking the baseball gods for him. He's a talented kid.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

The night after I posted this message my sons best friend Mike was killed in a car accident. End of school party, drinking and high speeds were the cause.

We buried Mike yesterday, saddest moment of my life to see the pain my son felt for the loss of his friend and the grief of his parents. These two boys were almost always together but that night they went in seperate cars. Who knows why these things happen. A good kid makes a bad decision, we all make them but this one cost him his life. Please remind your kids not to drink and drive.

Joe will be leaving for college at the end of the summer, I am going to miss him terribly but I will still be able to talk to him, hug him when he comes home and tell him I love him. I am going to miss Mike as well, he was around so much he was like a 2nd son. I can't give hime a hug. I wish I could.

Congratulations as well. A very tragic end to the school year. Condolences to all. Absolutely nothing worse than a church packed with stunned, sobbing teenagers. I've seen it once. I don't wish that on anyone.
