Hey Tas - I was wondering where you've been.
Don't forget Chris Craycraft, P, from Henry Clay signed with UK as well.

I've heard lots more, but I don't know for sure they're correct, so I'll wait. Maybe we should do this in the KY Forum too?

HiwasseVol tell me about this Spencer kid that UNC has from Tenn. I understand he was the #1 ranked kid from Tenn last year. Its my understanding he is going to start at first base for the tarheels this year as a true freshman. I hear he is about 6-4 215 and can really swing it. You know anything about him?

Coach,
I was lucky enough to watch Matt play for Morristown West and also in the ummer for Knoxville Thunder and the Knoxville Yard. He is a fine player who can hit with outstanding power. I also saw him light up the radar guns in Jupter hitting 92 in the late innings. I hatted to see him leave the state, but I can say that about many players. This is the information I had on Matt:

{(#10)BA-top 10} {National BA-PPlus #176/400} (.487 BA in 2002 with 12 HR's and 42 RBI's) (2002 All-Region) (TSWA All-State 2002) ("South" TeamOne Showcase 2002), (All-TBR 2002) (Knoxville Thunder) (2003, The sky is the limit for this left-handed star) (Attended Georgia Tech Junior Day on March 9th) (2003 KTN-All NET) (2003 .351 BA, 7 HR, 31 RBI's) (2003 TBCA Showcase) (TSWA All-State 2003) (Blue-Gray Classic VII at the University of Tennessee) (2003 TeamOne National Showcase) (TeamOne- Spencer has a pure homerun swing from the left side and some of the best power in the nation. He's also a considerable pitching prospect, with the prototype body and 87-90 MPH arm-strength.) (2003 WWBA Jupiter, FL where his FB was 90-92) 11/24/03 - Matt Spencer signs with UNC, 1B/LHP, Morristown, Tenn., Morristown West High School: One of the top two-way players in the country ... Figures to help the Tar Heels on the mound and at first base ... Ranked as the nation's No. 37 overall prospect by Team One Baseball ... Two-time all-state selection ... Regional Player of the Year in 2003 ... Batting .410 with 19 home runs in his prep career. (2004 2-AAA All-District player of-the-year) (2004 JPCS-22) (2004 - .512 BA, 17 HR, 52 RBI) (2004 - Spencer was a man among boys this season for the Trojans, whose season was cut short in the district tournament. The left-handed pro prospect rang up 97 strikeouts in just 46 innings and incredibly allowed only 19 hits. He was 6-2 with a skinny ERA of 0.91. At the plate, Spencer was equally tough. He batted .519 with 17 homers and 52 RBIs, scored 55 runs, totaled 13 doubles and had an on-base percentage of .698. ) (Drafted #725 in the 24th round by the Boston Red Sox) (TSWA All-State 2004) (2004 TBCA All-State)
