This is great news Papa!! Guess the DBACKS will have to wait till his sophomore year anyway Wink

I'm certainly happy Casey's age falls in the draft eligible window to be eligible as sophomore, 2008. That will be a tremendous opportunity and program to develop into that BIG LEAGUE pitcher. Just right! With Coach Martin's philosophy of sound baseball training with great pitching coaches and conditioning program everybody endorses as well as Coach Robert Ellis(former BIG LEAGUER and World Series Champion) working with Casey these next two years, you can bet the scouts will be very aware that Casey will be ready in 2008 draft.

Outstanding move Papa and Casey! You have chosen wisely! peace, Shep

Congrats to Casey from another East Texan! Robert Ellis is my son's advisor (I assume this is the same Robert Ellis) and we think he is a very quality guy. You've made a great choice. baseball4

My impression is that he has more upside as a hitter. Is he going to pitch or hit or both? He isn't very tall. 6 footer...bet he is a hitter.

Casey Whitmer can pitch and hit and is a little taller and will get taller. It's in his genetics. Have you seen how tall his dad is? Very projectable indeed.

He reminds me of Buster Posey a RHP/SS I found playing in a hot summer tournament about five years ago in GA without one scout present, except myself. It was 100 degrees at this tournament and I worked Posey out in the bullpen and saw him pitch a few innings. I did refer Buster Posey to the right person though, can you guess who that was? I referred this player to PG Jerry Ford who brought this unknown player out of Lee County HS in GA and launched a never-ending cinderella story that is not even close to having the last chapter written. Buster played SS this season for FLA STATE but may do both or pitching exclusively next year, 2007.

Casey Whitmer has the best pitching instructor in the business in Robert Ellis and will get the experience of Coaches there in Seminole land as well.

I am really surprised that the DBACKS aren't trying to sign this player in a more aggressive fashion but he will be eligible his Sophomore year in college, so that will be perfect for another team to swipe him up in 2008 draft.

Vance, you are right about this prospect as a hitter though Smile He can rake! peace, Shep

Casey is indeed a great player. He is scheduled to play for Duncanville in the Texas Collegiate League this summer. I look forward to seeing him play this summer.

Casey and his parents are wonderfull people. I had the oppertunity to visit with them this past week.

Casey is doing just fine. He is playing TCL with the Bryan Bombers. It appears as of right now he will attend Panola this next season.

He has electric stuff and will be in the majors soon enough.

I've known for a few weeks. Did not want to post before it was final. The connection to Panola is they have one of the great pitching coaches around. Casey had some incredible options from around the country.

UPDATE: August 21, 2008

What a find in Posey!!! That one find alone is enough to make a scout's career. I miss all of you and send my blessings. God Bless and Keep the faith. You just never know where you might find that next blue-chip prospect Smile Heck, he might be closer than you think Smile
