Chris Hite was awarded a FULL scholarship Monday to play football and baseball for Bethany College in Kansas. I'm happy for him, though I've never liked the guy much; he's always been real cocky, and after games where he'd beat us, he'd put a shirt (of my school) on and then tear it up. Everyone in his family have always been very athletic, his brother was also signed I-don't-remember-where a few years back, but will transfer to Bethany College to play baseball alongside his brother in the fall.
Does anyone else know of anyone who will be playing for this school? I know hardly anything about it.

Thanks for the notice, Laura. Brownsville is a long way from Dallas, let alone CT and Canada. Hard to get news about the deep south TX players up here.

Why the "pulling your leg, duh! comments"?? There are plenty of full rides for football alone. They never said it was a full ride for baseball. Roll Eyes

That is a heckuva reason to dismiss her. Real neighborly, too. Turns out everything in her post can be corroborated by the Brownsville, TX newspaper. According to posts in the TX forum, Laura does actually attend HS in the same UIL district as young Mr. Hite.

Do a little research next time before simply dismissing soneone's post as a hoax.

My comment is in regard to the term "Full". The problem is that it is usually bull. New s reports accept what they are told . I know there is a guy at Notre Dame with a dual scholarship so that part is believable. Most ball programs make you choose. There are lots of Ball players that could play both but the two sports conflict and overlap during the fall.
I would be curious how they will deal with the overlap.

I think Bobble has a point. I doubt if the reporter actually did a lot of research into exactly what the numbers were.

I repeat. There are plenty of "Full" rides for football. I know of a few dual sport athletes in college. Very believable if you ask me. Now if it was a full ride for baseball then maybe a question.

At any rate, excuse my questioning you. Probably my fault for looking at the glass as half full in my world.

You will note that it does not say full ride. The reporter probably dosen't know the difference.
Yes football has full rides. I had one offered to me years ago. They hand them out like water.
The reporters do fling terms around with no investigation about what the truth is.
I also have a problem with a baseball program that allows a player to miss fall prctice and tryouts. A baseball program has hundreds if not thousands of talented players to pick from who like the rest of the team will give 110% to the baseball team.
Most great ball players are muti sport guys and are required to commit to baseball.
There is a guy at Notre Dame that plays FB & BB and he is amazing but that is a trend I would not like to see.

I am very aware of BO. Ya I probably would. I would make him choose. Only fair to the team.
There are lots of great multi sport players that had to choose. According to the article if it is accurate and not just regurgitating Hite had several schools that did just that. Kudos to them.

If he's going for both sports, he's obviously not getting a dime of baseball money and under full football scholarship. In football, you cannot divide scholarships; everyone under scholarship has a full ride. Same goes for basketball.
