Congratulations goes out to Greg Wiegand from Paul VI who signed w/ the University of Dayton in Ohio. Greg is a pitcher for Paul VI HS in Fairfax VA, currently 3-0 on the mound this year w/ 4 saves and a 1.97 era on the year w/ 31k in 28 innings.

Congratulations goes out also to Drew Shaw from Paul VI who signed w/ Temple University in Pennsylvania. Drew is a Left handed pitcher for Paul VI HS in Fairfax VA, currently 6-0 on the mound this year w/ a 1.10 era on the year w/ 48k in 35 innings.

In addition to the two players above Paul VI had 3 players sign early: Peter Verdin/OF (Georgia), Brett Bowers/MIF (East Carolina) and Matt Murakami/MIF (Maryland)

Paul VI has four seniors remaining that are all in the process of making their decisions and I hope to have some additional good news coming soon.

Wow, congrats to all. And how was the team's season this year with all this talent?

Their website shows they are 24-3. A certain school has been a thorn in their side, though. Wink

Nice season.

There's more in the Virginia Forum. Look for WCAC.

Have fun!

Paul VI is now 25-3. Beat Collegiate last night in the quarterfinals of Virginia Independent Schools State Tournament (10-0 in 5 innings). They play semifinal game in Petersburg on Thursday. If they win, they play in finals on Saturday.

Peter Verdin--Georgia
Matt Murakami--Maryland
Brett Bowers--ECU
Greg Wiegand--Dayton
Drew Shaw--Temple

Tim McCormick, Mike Mitchell, Reed Bromley, and Mike McMenamin are the remaining seniors who have yet made final decisions. Each of these players has Div I talent. McCormick and Mitchell likely will be next to sign (McCormick has been killing the ball and Mitchell pitched superbly last night in shutting down Collegiate cold).

True that Bishop Ireton proved to be PVI's undoing in the WCAC Tournament. However, if PVI can win the State Tournament, that will go a long way toward assuaging the pain of the BI tourney loss.
