To the experts here, excuse me if I sound naive. My question is does everyone who gets drafted always speak to scouts before hand? Is it possible for a kid to get drafted if he never had a discussion with a scout?

fan, I think there are two answers to the question. I don't think it is likely a player will get drafted without talking with any scouts. It happens more often than you might expect that a player will be drafted by an organization that has not talked with him.

'You don't have to be a great player to play in the major leagues, you've got to be a good one every day.'
