My daughter plays fastball in the summer and curls in the winter. Some of the curling tournaments are cash prizes therefore winning money in a sport. I had someone tell me once a player receives money for a sport, it disqualifies them for any scholarships. Can anyone please give me any information you have on this topic.

As far as the NCAA is concerned you lose amatuer status in any sport as soon as you receive any compensation for THAT particular sport.

You can win money in curling and still be eligible for a scholarship in softball.

I thought there were some issues a few years ago with the University of Colorado kick returner who was being sponsored as a ski boarder or something like that? Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe it's the difference between winning money and receiving money from a sponsor.
