2 different scouting scenarios:

1. Scout calls ahead, comes to watch and stays 6 innings.
2. Scout shows up to game, has the gun on player for 3 batters, then takes some film and leaves.

Which is better? Stay longer, or pop by??

BTW, this isn't my son I'm talking about, I've just observed this during HS season. And was wondering which scenario MIGHT indicate greater interest.

I would not try to read anything into either scenario.

Many times a scout, especially an area or regional guy will try and see two games in one day. Maximize their time.

it depends on how the pitcher threw the ball, if the velocity was way down scouts leave fast.

simple test with any pitcher, how long do people have radar gun on the pitcher. watch when a new pitcher comes in if the gun gets set down fast or pulled the plug on him. He is a NP

I like Bob's reply. I have been asked directions to another park.
