I would really love to be able to follow our "HSBBWebster sons" in the draft. Would any other members be interested in helping to compile a draft-eligible list?

This could be a slightly sensitive topic, as I know there are some sons among our members who are deserving of draft consideration but may not end up hearing their names called. But I would personally like to know which names to listen for!

So if you want to help compile a list, please post the following info for any player YOU are hoping to hear named on June 5th or 6th:

  • Player's name and position
  • City and state
  • HS Baseball Web member's name (player or parent)
  • Whether the player is a HS senior, college junior or senior, or other.

Good luck, Webster sons! applaude

Julie

Great idea!...I share your excitement and "rooting" interest...been pouring over draft lists...

But I also share the sensititvity factor, not only will some not hear heir names....but others simply don't want the public connection made...

What to do?...

Cool 44

There are several posters here that I suspect will have kids called up. I know of several kids here in my city that probably will. I'd rather see their name posted afterwards than to be left off by me or posted and they aren't called. I'm looking forward to the draft and will actually be off work, so able to catch a lot of it!

All I have to say is, good luck to all those draft eligible and especially our HSBBW boys!!!

I am hoping to hear everyone's son's names that I know is eligible for the draft.

Reality is it may or may not happen, and that does not mean that they are not considered to be pro players. For HS players teams may feel that you will not sign and head to college.

I know what many must be going through, but remember one thing, being honest in ones willingness to sign (for any dollar amount) and go play will most likely be the deciding factor in where you will be drafted, who will draft you or not at all.

Two of our websters I know who I think will have sons called very early, possibly first round.
Good luck! May all your dreams come true.

Go Everyone!

All the buzz is Buster Posey of Florida State - he has earned it. I think it would be hard to pass over Pedro Alvarez however.

Very best wishes today and tomorrow for many "dreams come true" for our Webster sons! Please feel free to share any news here!

Even if it's your own son with the exciting news, of course it's not bragging. You are doing many of us a big favor by letting us share the thrill of this special day!

Quote from MLB.com:
quote:
This is mostly about the 3,000 kids eligible for the Draft, from the expected first-round picks all the way to the 50th-round guys. This is about the dream of athletes who grew up on youth teams and worked their way into this opportunity, and maybe someone will be that next Mike Piazza -- who recently retired after a 16-year Hall of Fame career that came after he was drafted in the 62nd round in 1988.

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL,.....the countdown has begun!!!! : party

If the talent is there and all the stars are alined....It doesn't matter where your drafted. Its about what you do after you sign!!!

Best of luck...

Absolutely! Being an early round draft pick means more money and I guess a certain amount of prestige. However, in the long run... it matters none. Son has a HS friend who was drafted in the 39th or 40th rounds (from college) - has moved up to high A and I suspect will see AA this year or certainly start next year there. Life is about what you do with what you're given. All these kids drafted are having an opportunity that most will never see. I'll follow from start to finish!

PGStaff,

I read that your organization had provided a lot of player videos to ESPN for this year's draft coverage. I'd be interested in any more info you have about that.

Julie

P.S. And can you do anything about making a few particular players' names pop up as quickly as possible so some of us can quit holding our breath? Big Grin

Hi!
Having been through 3 drafts with two sons, I clearly remember how exciting and nerve wracking these next two days can be.

My best advice is to remember that, whatever the outcome, God loves your precious son even more than you and has a wonderful plan for his life. Try not to worry! Everything is going to be fine...no matter what happens. Smile
