I am planning on attending a MLSB tryout in Washington this coming month and want to know more about it. Who is in attendance usually? Is it like any other showcase workout? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

My 18 year old son attended the one in Dallas on Wednesday, June 13. The event started at 9 AM and he got home at 7:30 PM (there was about a 45 minute rain delay). I would agree with wvmtner about the activities of the day. My son, who went as a catcher, said they got 5 swings of soft toss and the catchers threw to second. One scout asked the guy running the catchers throws to second if he wanted a stopwatch and he said, "I don't care about pop to pop times, I am looking for arm strength. I can teach footwork and release." My son said there were about 70 - 80 pitchers there. The first guy he caught was about 40 years old with a scruffy beard and wearing blue jeans. He topped out at 62. However, one guy topped at 94, so there is a wide range of guys there. There was a senior catcher there from Baylor who was signed by Milwaukee on Thursday, so you never know what might happen. Good luck.
