Most ML teams have pre-draft workouts. The idea is for the scouting director and his staff to get one last look before they pull the trigger. The ML teams are not allowed to pay for the players expenses. However, if the player is drafted and signed by that club, they will reimbures the family for all expenses.

ZenGrifter, I am not sure that is accurate. I believe that they can pay from what I have read here.

I believe a tryout/pre-draft camp is ok, provided the following NCAA rules are followed in this link:

I thinkI posted this once, spoke with NCAA. It is ok to go, it is ok to pay AS long as you are NOT enrolled in college. If you are invited for a workout and enrolled in school and they pay, you are in violation of NCAA rules. That is the interpretation I got from them and can't rmember what rule it was.
You can go to as many as you want if invited, you may be there when others are (like an official weekend visit).

I do believe there may e a time limit as well not to exceed cetain amount of hours.

According to the link I posted, the time limit is 48 hours of a pre-enrolled HS player. The MLB team may pay for expenses only for the player as well. See link above for exact wording.
