This is my first post so here goes. How do you know how interested scouts really are? My son was not known by anyone until this summer. It seems as though he surprised a lot of people. He has signed with a D1 school and has received letters/questionnaires from 12 pro teams and has talked personally to two others. He has also had a home visit with a scout from the MLSB and has scheduled one with a pro team scout later this month. I have read that some posters sons have had many visits already. Since we have only had the one, does this mean that they are not really that interested? Is it okay to ask how interested they are or do we just wait and see? I know that he has only been seen a few times by scouts, so is it possible they are waiting to see how he does this fall before they schedule a home visit if at all?

No Way 90, Just go with the flow. Do the visits and return the forms. We were in the same shoes last year and if you try to figure it all out it will drive you nuts. Be happy that you have had the interest taken in your boy. It is an honor.

Agree with Sark, going through the process ourselves now, we just go with the flow.

Thanks for the welcome and all your input. We had already decided that we just need to go with the flow and we are very happy with the situation even if it stays just like it is. As far as I am concerned everything else is just icing on the cake. However, my son is already ready to sign the dotted line (Ha!). I was just hoping for a little insight on the whole process. I just didn't know if timing wise it was already to late to get a serious look from the pros and what we could possibly expect.

I agree will all previous posters. Let me make one suggestion. Educate yourself as best you can on the process and then set down with your son and caution him on getting emotionally involved. My 17 year old son was very involved at first and then as it got complicated and emotional, I had to isolate him from the negotiations. Prepare your son as best you can. I'm sure he has dreams of playing MLB, but for MOST players, being drafted, or not being drafted out of HS will have little bearing on him realizing his dream.
