Call Fungo Jr.... He can help out with the restaurants. I usually just drive up and down Opelika Road and pick one out that doesn’t' seem too full. Applebee’s, Ruby Tuesday, Chilies, Golden Corral, Great Wall (Chinese) etc. Bunch of them on that road. Fungo Jr. said he said he didn't know where any of the bars were but had heard there were a few close by. Big Grin I had planned to make it to the FSU/AU series but decided to attend the Gameday Recruiting seminar in Memphis with my buddy Bama Bomber. AU struggled with VMI last weekend so go easy on the Tigers! They are a very young team. Enjoy your stay on the plains and ... War Eagle!
Fungo
PS leave your video camera at home ... No video cameras allowed at Plainsman Park.

For those of you visiting this rural south school....things are changing.

My favorite would be "Mikata"
Excellent sushi and fabulous tapanyaki cooks!...(Tapanyaki is a Japanese style made famous by Benihana)

Get the Filet Mignon/ Lobster combo...or anything off the tapanyaki menu...good fun and not expensive...There is a great bar......and get there early or make a reservation.

Hamilton's looked good...but they screwed up my reservation by 2 hours.

The Outback was excellent.

The Barbecue Prk sandwhich at the game was very good.

For accomodations, stay at the Hilton Garden or University Inn.

Avoid the Best Western....BRUTAL!

Soxnole, I thought you was looking for real food not trot line bait!

Shep, I only know that fans are not allowed to bring in movie cameras. That is not an SEC rule because they allow movie cameras in other SEC stadiums. They say it is for security reasons. For a while they banned camera bags so I bought a ladies purse, put my camera in it, and dared them to turn me away. (true story)

The Barbeque House on College Street is good for lunch. We always have to go there when we go to Auburn.

Also, great Auburn souvenirs... J&M Bookstore on College Street.

Conference Center is nicest place to stay. It is also on College Street right across from campus.

War Eagle!!!!!!

Not an Auburn story, but Fungo's post reminded me of this one. A few years ago when they were building the Texas Rangers new ballpark, my uncle used to stop by and take a look now and then. After scoping out the security situation, one day he borrowed a hard hat from a friend and stopped at McDonalds to get one of those bags they put the big breakfast trays in. He put his video camera in the bag and walked right by the security gate and into the stadium. Of course a good portion of video was of the inside of the bag, because every time someone walked by, he would shove the camera back into the bag.
