That is interesting that they would announce him being that they just announced that Coach Smith was retiring after this season and they did not do a National or even a extensive search within Calif.
This is good for Sac State. Coach Christiansen is a solid baseball coach and very hard working recruiter. When Coach Smith hired him, he was the #1 candidate that they wanted, and he's earned the respect of all the players who were already in the program. From what I know, I think it was a pretty easy choice for the AD to name him at this time.
I think this is a very positive development for Hornet baseball, and the program will improve under Coach Christiansen's leadership.

At least something is going on in the California thread for once!
These just kills me, this is supposed to be one of the most active states, as far as baseball goes, and there is squat posted here in the California thread.

There are probably a few bummed out coaches that wanted to try for that job as the program has a lot of upside. Coach Christiansen has been seen in socal quite a few times this past summer and should get results on the recruiting trail very quickly.
