Sorry but I need to vent. My 07's baseball schedule has been ruined by rain here in Northern California. His team has only played one league game as opposed to other teams in his league how have played nearly 10. His school doesn't have its own baseball field. So they use city fields..which are almost always closed when it rains. Even if just rain for a few minutes in the morning, the fields are usually closed by the afternoon. Very frustrating. Games have recently been rescheduled so that his team will have three games in three days. Pitching will be interesting. We're just happy he's only a junior and has one more year. But this was his first varsity year. Sigh.

Hey Newcomer...

Weather looking better this week...stack those games up while it lasts...

We've been fortunate some of our parents have actually gone gameday morning and dried out OPPONENTS fields an hour away to insure that we play. We've got 11 in so far....

Hope this weather holds...

Cool 44

More rain in the forecast for us Northern folks. We only have 3 games in so far and are scheduled to play Friday (rain). Small chance at the beginning of next week then it is supposedto clear up. Let's keep our fingers crossed. I am tired of the rain.

I suppose with all that bad weather over there,
A .750 batting average will be safe for a while Smile

Hope it clears up for you guys. It is going to be in 40's tonight here in S.FL...According to close associates in Carolinas, it is freezing up there and too cold for cross-cking Smile peace, RS

Well, it is an absolutely gorgeous morning. Sun shining, supposed to be close to 70. Son has his only home game scheduled for the year. Little brother woke up with stomach flu--so I'm home anyway. I guess when it really does rain it pours. At least older son will get to play.

I visited my sister in OC a couple of weeks ago and I saw firsthand some of the bad weather you're talking about. Temps in the high 40's and lots of rain. So, I know what you're going through. However, still consider yourselves fortunate. Living here in the Chicago area spring baseball is, year in and year out, just plain cold. Son played a DH yesterday when the high for the day was 37+ and winds right out of the north. It was brutal. You've got to dress like you're going to a football game in December. Brand new $270 bats dent on first contact and it's back to the factory. Hope all this weather goes away quickly and that we all can warm up and dry out.

BA .700, obp .850, SLGP 1.100. with no HR's.
ERA. low only 1 earned run in 4 complete game outings.
Not bad would you say after 8 games.

The weather has been very frustrating here in Northern California. Son a freshman and has had many games cancelled. We were so looking forward to his firt season, but ended up all wet. Looks like we will get a game in tomorrow - Thursday. The entire team is frustrated. They feel they have not had a chance to get into any kind of rythm. One can only practice so long.

Yeah this season is a big wash out. Son on JV and I get the feeling that none of their games will be made up since there are no playoffs.

Ok - with crossed fingers son's JV team may get a game in tomorrow Thursday. First game in the last 3 weeks (can you believe it). I don't think I am going to be able to sleep.

Ok...

....always hated crushed granite (sand) infields/mounds but have discovered this spring that such infields/mounds have no clay in them so are not near as much affected by the rain. We played a long four innings in a complete downpour last week and the infield/mound were just fine...I say reschedule all games on sand and play IN/THROUGH the rain...

For the future...as long as we continue to face this global warming cooling perhaps we ought to look into more sand...
