Any preseason predictions out there for san diego county baseball CIF top ten teams?

I see Cathedral Catholic in top 3, good/great pitching, solid/good defense, outstanding hitting and tons of speed.

anyone have any other predictions?

1) Poway
2) Granite Hills
3) Mira Mesa
4) Cathedral( I was at the game against St. Augstine, great game and SOJO pitched well against them last year).

Not sure about everyone else, depends on returnign seniors. I also wanted to speak to you surflust. Can you PM me in the future.

Last year, Cathedral beat #1, #2, and #3 on your list.

They also are returning almost all players (save 1 starting pitcher and 1 part-time outfielder) from last year.

Not saying I want to be high in anyone's poll...prefer to be the underdog or "stealth" team. Unfortunately, I think the word is out. It will be interesting to see what the U-T says in its preseason poll. St Augustine had better drop out completely...they overachieved to make that final game, plus they graduated a lot of players. Same with UC, La Jolla, and to a lesser extent Mission Bay.

I think Poway will take D1, Grossmont D2, and Cathedral D3.

i think some of the top teams in san diego this year will be.....

cathedral
poway
valhalla
grossmont
vista
el cap
montgomery
oceanside

...no particular order, but baseballbum i think granite hills is in the same boat as UC, they may have won it last year but they are in a bit of a rebuilding process this year

Alright some San Diego baseball talk. My son was fortunate to play summer ball and play on that Cathedral field. One of the best fields, if not the best HS Baseball field. Puts a lot of DIV1 homefields to shame.

I didn't know that about Cathedral, they should be poised to win. I know one thing is for sure, I will be attending many games this year.

Yes indeed...let's hear it for the SD high school fans!!

Some other teams I'd include on the quality list:
-Mission Bay
-Rancho Buena Vista
-Ramona

Not sure if they bust into the top 10 right away, but they have a shot.

bum: Agree on the Cathedral field...it is a pearl. BIG outfield too. Requires strong hitters on offense, and fast outfielders on defense. The only area that it falls short on is fan amenities, like snack bar, more seating, PA system, lights, and bathrooms close to field. These will come over time, though.

We'll get to see some great games in mid-March. The Lions Tournament runs from March 17-20 this year.
Cathedral is moving up to the Classic Division and will be facing Temecula Valley and Elk Grove.
