My son has received an offer from Jamestown College in N.D. for football and baseball. Can anyone tell me anything they have heard (good or bad) about this school? Believe me we are very happy with the offer but that is a long way and we don't know much about the school.

Your son should visit North Dakota in February before deciding it's the location for him, especially since he's accustomed to a warmer climate. I'm guessing there's a lot of 40 something degree/30 degree wind chill baseball games in the spring.

Debcon,

I don't know much directly about Jamestown College, but my son played four years of baseball at North Dakota State University, a couple of hours down the road. NDSU is D1 (since 2004) and did not play Jamestown, but I've heard good things about the school and baseball program. Also, my son did play some Legion games vs. Jamestown and they have a very nice old wood grandstand ballpark that is in excellent shape, thanks to donations from Jamestown native Darin Erstad. Like other northern schools, they play farther south earlier in the season before starting home games. There will be some cold days, but baseball in North Dakota is completely feasible and I wouldn't reject the school because of worries about the weather. Good luck.
