I have a question about transferring between junior colleges. Does a player need to have a coach sign a release if the player is transferring from a juco DII to a juco DI? My understanding is no, but there is a second part to this question. The school will be going from a DII to a DI program next year. The schools I am asking about will be in the same region. We had 2 players that transferred after the fall to another school in the same region. The coach would not sign the release, so both players had to redshirt this year. There are several players considering a move, but don't know what to do.

It is my understanding that a player must get a release unless he is returning to his hometown CC.
