Don't know about the current baseball staff. Their previous coach left to take over at nearby Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Cuesta is good junior college in a beautiful area and serves as a "feeder" into Cal Poly.

Sorry a little slow on the uptick...busy putting out fires...

...Every program is a mix: good things and challenges. And, no matter how good a program is it has to be the right fit for your son...that being said, Cuesta is WELL worth consideration...for anyone looking for a top CA JC...We researched this program pretty well, and have not had any surprises...

Here is a big picture look...Team wins. Rated #6 SoCal JC RPI right now. The program has the expectation of going to state final 4 every year. It is palatable. Was one out away last year from that goal. The program is geared for this. Be aware, like most top CA JC’s the fall competition is very fierce, they get 70-80 players out. I am sure that the competition will be tougher next year with the DI drop down’s. Had 2 this year already, both studs. Nobody is here without real purpose. Personal and team expectations are high. The guys at the end of the roster are working just hard and have goals and expectations. Few Players leave this program once they are in. Many Players do go on to 4 years to play. Recently...UCSD, Chico State, Virginia Tech, ASU, Cal Poly...and others. Players get drafted...a couple a year? Should be at least 2 this year maybe more.

Play one of the toughest schedules in the state, by design...and they win. 28-21 last year and an out from the final 4...32-14 in 2006...29-13 in 2005...Coaches record is 145-73.

Head Coach is great, tons of experience, professional, straight up, family man, fair. I suspect this is as close to DI as you will get in a JC program. The players are all handled very professionally from what I see. Prospects should Get their references together and make contact. The coach should be able to give players a good general idea of interest...a visit and a meeting with the coach is a likely a next step.

Great location... Very nice field and it upgrades every year, , good academics, nice rural campus, school is athlete friendly (good school support - adimin/academic), there is a student athletic advisor, good support with training department...weather is great, Town is great. One of the few true college towns in the state. (SLO, Davis, Chico...) Poly is big. Housing is a huge issue. Ocean nearby which is great. College towns come with their own challenges...and opportunities.

PM me with any other questions...

Cool 44
