You might want to send a PM to Curveball07. Her son currently plays there.

I'd like to hear about this school or more importantly their facilities. My son's school opens up there against CSM in Golden Co. How's the field and what is the possibility of getting the game in the 1st/2ed week of Feb. in the Mile High city? Earlier I get the airfare the cheaper.

plash3 -

Better buy a refundable airfare ticket to Denver - we've learned our lesson the hard way that you can never predict the weather - one minute the sun is shining and the next minute it snows!

PM me if you want info on good hotels, etc. to stay in. We love visiting Golden, CO!

beautiful area to visit or go to school. Must have some serious math skills to hang with the Mines crowd. Best line I've heard about the school; there are very few girls that attend so the odds are good; but the goods are odd (in some cases).

Being that this is an Engineering school do the coaches and faculty work with one another so that engineering sudents can play baseball?

Since every student at Mines is an engineering student, the coaches do recognize the challenges that the students face. The coaches closely watch the grades, etc. to see if the student needs extra help.

Since Mines does have an active athletic department (football team is 5 - 0 in the RMAC conference), the faculty is used to dealing with athletes. But I do not think the faculty gives the athletes any breaks.

Mines hired a new athletic director three years ago who has committed to making Mines athletic departments successful - more money has been spent to improve the athletic facilities. Baseball has had a full-time coach for the past three years (before a part time position) but is not fully funded.

The coach does overlook the students being late to practice because of a lab - certain labs are only available at certain times. We were just there for a scrimmage last weekend - we noticed about 3 players running into the Friday late afternoon scrimmage from their lab. Players are expected to be at all baseball functions - not allowed to miss practice to study, etc.

Any questions - feel free to PM me.
