I figured right away you had you're Springfield's confused. The poster's private school is in the same conference as two schools who approached me about my son before entering 9th grade.

We are not a baseball hotbed. There aren't many players from this area playing for ranked or major conferencde baseball teams. If we discuss basketball that's another story. This is a basketball hotbed. The one major player I failed to mention from the area in a previous post is Chris Lubanski. He played on Team USA. He was committed to Florida State before being selected and signed by the Royals.

I frankly am apalled that people are attacking each other over disagreements over baseball "hotbeds." Obviously this kid is from PA, from my knowledge of FSU and the game of baseball. Everyone is correct, FSU is a tough nut to crack because of the way the NCAA has ripped away scholarships from baseball programs thanks to gender equity "improvements," (i do agree w/out title 9 there would be little for womens athletics). BUT GREAT PLAYERS COME FROM EVERYWHERE, maybe first your son should look into area schools, St. Joes, Villanova, etc., Shoot for PSU as they improve and now have NICER facility than FSU. AND YES, Go FOR FSU, nobody should tell u it cannot happen. Players come from all backgrounds, if he ends up being good enough, it won't matter. Stanford picked up Mark Romanczuk a few years ago and he was from Wilmington, DE. If your son wants to go to FSU and play baseball, then tell him to work his butt off, don't compare yourself to the players around you in PA, because most of them wil be lucky to play in the PSAC. FIND OUT WHAT THE BEST HS PLAYERS DO TO GET BETTER AND FOLLOW THAT, WITH UNWAVERING DEDICATION and the FSU's of the world WILL be knocking at your door. Ultimiately choose the best situation for you, THERE ARE GREAT PROGRAMS EVERYWHERE, and great conferences. Remember, Mickey Mantle was from Oklahoma, Bob Feller from Iowa, Jake Peavy and Roy Oswalt are from BFE, you put the work in and have the talent, it doesnt matter.
