That is old news and totally irrelevant. Coach Marbut has the complete support of the WSU administration, and was given a 3-year contract extension after last season. He has the Cougar program moving in the right direction.

Thx for the couple of PMs, I was asking more out of curiousity having grown up a Coug and Zag baseball fan back "in the day" and it just seems like of the 3 Washington D1 schools, (UW, Gonz, WSU)that WSU is gaining momentum, Gonzaga doesn't recruit many Washington kids, and the UW is quiet. So I was mainly curious if my perceptions were out in left field. Especially since OSU has developed such a strong program from seemingly no where, thx again for your insights.

Definitely WSU's baseball program is on the rise. They beat Oklahoma 3 of 4 games this weekend. Coach Marbut and staff are doing a great job.
Gonzaga did have a pattern in the past of recruiting primarily kids from Arizona, but recently have committed/signed some Spokane players in Max Mannix '07, Tyler Olson '08, Jacob Partridge '09, and Billy Moon '09. WSU has gone after Washington talent and has also branched out a bit to go after some non-local guys. Not only are they quite good in identifying talent, they do an excellent job of followup in their recruiting effort.
