I will post clips for anyone that does not have access to their own web storage space that can be linked to.

You can send the clip to:

clips@hsbbweb.com

I will only post one clip per week in the order they arrive providing nothing happens to the server hosting the clips. Otherwise, you are more than welcome to post your own clip from your own web hosting site.

I will convert your clips for you from wmv, mov, avi and mpg if I can. If I have trouble, I’ll let you know.

quote:
As a rule of thumb, the posted clips do not represent the true tempo of the clip. This is a cyber-space or server thing. If you want to see the true tempo of the a clip (as sent to me,) then you MUST downdload the clip to your computer and view it with your favorite video editor/player.

What I’ve found to work well:

1) A detailed statement on what you want from others ………not “what do you think?” or "I'd like to have comments."

2) Clips angles to consider are throwing side, back and front. The camera should be set at belt height for the side and front views, and high enough from the back to see the solid foot plant of the stride foot.

3) The clip should be filmed at 30 fps….15 fps doesn’t represent throwing mechanics very well. Still pictures mean nothing when trying to analyze a throw.

4) Shoot the clip with good lighting and a high shutter speed, or as high a shutter speed allowed by the aperture setting.

5) The clip should show the player head to foot.

6) Additional clips should be from the back just off to the right for a RHP, or just off to the left for LHP. They should include head to foot, and both feet when the front foot plants.

7) If a front view is used, then an angle as close to home plate and thrower as possible.

8) Use a tripod. Do not pan the throw.

9) Send one throw at a time, not two or three throws in one clip.

10) Try to keep each clip under 2000KB

If I’ve missed anything, I’ll add to this post.

I encourage all members (novices to the guys and gals that have lived baseball for a long time) to join in with meaningful dialogue and input.

My job/duty is to monitor this forum. All postings with personal accusations will be deleted ASAP.

I know it was hard to resist, but I don't want to keep reminding people that this forum is not the place to hammer people. It would be nice to hear meaningful feedback on posted clips.

Good post(s) cap_n. I too am a moderator in this forum and want to add to what cap_n has already said. Many of you who visit this web site get irritated seeing people critique video of players. For those of you who are in this camp I respectfully ask that you ignore the posts where that is taking place and move on to a different thread.

When people post clips of players, high level or not, they are usually doing so hoping to learn something. Everyone is entitled to there opinion regardless of who they are. If you disagree with an opinion and are "prepared" to question it then by all means do so. But try to keep it respectful.

Thanks!

Jason

Amen Flipp Each person who takes the time to post should be able to share their opinion without fear of being dressed down. This game is quite difficult to put into words at times, particularly the skills and mechanics regarding pitching. It is entirely possible for two people to be saying the same thing using different wording. The important thing is that one of those ways may benefit a player, coach, or interested parent. I've only been around a short time but already have enjoyed some sound advice.

This is my first time posting so I hope I'm doing this right. My son is a left handed pitcher and will be a 2010 HS graduate. I'm wondering if his mechanics look ok? He is only throwing around 79 or 80 and wondering if it is something in his mechanics that would make him throw harder.

Thanks
