playing time is really important because experience in a game and certain situations.
But you also need good mechanics.

It's really important to have good coaching and then to be able execute what was thought through playing time. Having alot of playing time without good mechanics/good coaching will not lead to growth/development. Best of Luck to you!

The pitching coach & hitting coach are the 2 most importnat guys on the team. Without them the pitchers and hitters will develope bad habits and they will then lose what playing time they had.
The pitching coach who calls pitches can also destroy a pitchers game by calling the wrong pitches in the wrong situation.

Let’s be pragmatic about the question.

Is it possible to become a pitcher without ever getting on the mound in a game? Wink

Do you NEED good book mechanics to be a successful pitcher, or is it enough to be able to repeat your pitching motion?

I guess I’m just a little leery when someone tries to lump all coaches into either a good or bad category, or discount the importance of hard work in games it takes to become a good pitcher.
