Hi All,

I posted this in the General Forum, and thought to ask our friends who frequent the NC Forum ...

MY son is in town from Fri to Sun for the USA Baseball NTIS, and we just learned tonight that the 17U division is playing with wood bats. Can you please suggest where we might look in the Raleigh area on Friday for a good wood bat?

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Hope I'm not too late - Call Johnson-Lambe (919) 832-8848 or toll-free at 1-800-762-4358. They are located in Cameron Village shopping center in Raleigh. Hometown sporting goods store that's been around for ages and supplies baseball/football/basketball equipment and uniforms to most of the schools in Wake County. Ask them how they can help you get a wood bat in a hurry. Good luck to your son!

Thanks BB Buzz -- I remember the name from when I lived in Raleigh in the early 80's. JL and Grand Slam were usggested to us, and we hit GS first (closer). We found a reasonable selection of bats, and southpaw_son bought one to get through the weekend (and beyond, we hope). Thanks so much for the recommendation. I have passed it along to other families who were caught by surprise also.

By the way, I had the pleasure of speaking briefly with a WF Coach at the games tonight. They were out working hard trying to idnetify prospects to keep building up that Deamon Deacon program.

Thanks again for taking the time to help. I knew the HSBBW family would come to the rescue. Smile

Glad you found what you were looking for. And it's great to hear our guys are out on the recruiting trail. We are extremely pleased with the new coaches and looking forward to the upcoming season. Best of luck to southpaw_dad son!

Thanks BB Buzz. Turns out he needed the new wood. A teammate broke his other bat in BP today. He's playing hard, having fun, and trying to help his team succeed.

As a LHP/1B, he has been hoping to get a chance to throw while we had a good audience ... including your guys. He took the mound late today, when our guys were well behind, in what had been a rather sloppy affair. A quick, 10-pitch, 1-2-3 inning was his contribution. I don't think your guys were around, but some of their competition were. It was either a refreshing change in an otherwise poorly pitched game, or it went by before they had a chance to realize what happened. We're hoping somebody may have noticed.
